The 2017 Marchesi Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Matarocchio Bolgheri Superiore DOC ranks among the absolute best in the international wine world. Matarocchio is the flagship wine of Tenuta Guado al Tasso and is produced exclusively in the best vintages. Sourced from an exceptional vineyard parcel in Bolgheri and made almost entirely from Cabernet Franc, this wine represents the highest level of quality and craftsmanship from Marchesi Antinori. The original wooden case containing three bottles makes this edition particularly sought after by collectors and wine enthusiasts.
Despite the hot and dry conditions of 2017, Marchesi Antinori managed to produce a wine with impressive concentration, refined structure, and exceptional balance. Thanks to an extremely rigorous selection of the best grapes, the result is a wine with ripe black fruit, velvety tannins, and remarkable freshness that gives it a very long aging potential.
The nose opens with aromas of cassis, black currants, plums, violets, graphite, cedarwood, cigar box, dark chocolate, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful, intense, and at the same time exceptionally elegant, with impressive minerality and an endless finish.
The original wooden case containing three bottles not only enhances the collectible value of this exclusive wine but also provides optimal protection during long-term storage. This makes this edition particularly appealing to collectors and wine enthusiasts.
Serve at 17–18°C and decant the wine at least two to three hours in advance. Perfect with wagyu, Florentine bistecca, lamb, game dishes, truffle dishes, and premium aged cheeses.
Matarocchio is a rare exception in Bolgheri: instead of a blend of various Bordeaux grape varieties, this wine is made exclusively from Cabernet Franc grown on a specific plot at Tenuta Guado al Tasso. Antinori releases it only when the vintage is deemed suitable. The 2017 vintage was exceptionally warm and dry in Tuscany, which made the work in the vineyard all the more important. This set includes three 0.75-liter bottles, allowing enthusiasts to track the evolution of the same vintage at different stages.
