The story behind porto

Porto, or port wine, originated in the 17th century in the beautiful Douro Valley in northern Portugal. When English merchants looked for alternatives to French wines, they discovered the rich, full-bodied wines of this region. To extend their shelf life during transport to England, they added a dash of brandy during the fermentation process. This created a fortified wine with a distinctive sweet and full-bodied character: port.

Since then, port has become a globally beloved wine, known for its complexity, storage potential and variety of styles - from ruby and tawny to vintage and white port. What once began as a practical solution grew into an age-old tradition with refined flavors and rich stories in every bottle.

From passion to port: the story behind Port2Port

A passion of more than thirty years

My passion for port now transcends three decades. What once began with a few bottles in a small cabinet has grown into an exceptional collection, with an impressive selection of Vintage Ports as its crowning glory. Each bottle tells its own story - of vintages, houses, regions and tradition - and is a tangible reminder of years of searching for character and authenticity.

Wines with personality

My love of wine has also grown over the years. The collection has expanded to include carefully chosen wines from regions where craftsmanship and terroir are key. Each bottle reflects a personal preference for depth, finesse and balance.

A webshop with a story

Port2Port was not born from a commercial idea, but from the desire to share this passion. It is a place for people who do not choose just anything, but want to taste, experience and remember something. A story in every bottle - and hopefully in your glass.
