2017 Domaine d’Eugénie Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru OWC6
The 2017 Domaine d’Eugénie Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru OWC6 (6 × 0.75L) ranks among the very best wines of Burgundy. Domaine d’Eugénie produces some of the most refined Pinot Noirs of the Côte de Nuits and enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide thanks to its exceptional expression of terroir, limited production, and uncompromising philosophy of quality. The original wooden case containing six bottles enhances its authenticity and collectible value.
The 2017 vintage is celebrated for its elegance, freshness, and pure fruit expression. Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru combines impressive aromatic complexity with silky-smooth tannins and an exceptionally long, mineral finish. The result is a wine that is impressive when young and can age beautifully for decades.
Aroma & taste
The wine opens with aromas of wild cherries, raspberries, red berries, violets, rose petals, forest floor, delicate spices, and subtle oak notes. On the palate, it is refined and harmonious, with silky-smooth tannins, lively freshness, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
The Story of the Class of 2017
In April 2017, spring frosts affected parts of Burgundy, but the rest of the season turned out to be more favorable for many vineyards than in 2016. As a result, the Pinot Noir from Grands Échezeaux displayed a different balance of fruit, freshness, and structure.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at 15–16°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with veal, duck, pigeon, game birds, truffle dishes, mushrooms, and refined French cuisine.
The story behind the bottle
The story of Domaine d’Eugénie began in 2006, when François Pinault acquired the former Domaine René Engel in Vosne-Romanée. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for a historic Burgundian wine estate. The Grands Échezeaux vineyard is located in the Côte de Nuits, adjacent to the famous Échezeaux, but constitutes a separate Grand Cru appellation. The wine is made from Pinot Noir. The 2017 vintage demonstrates how the same exceptional terroir can express itself under different weather conditions. The original wooden case contains six bottles from the same vintage.
