The 2012 Domaine d’Eugénie Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru OWC6 (6 × 0.75L) ranks among the absolute best Burgundy wines in the world. Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru is one of Burgundy’s most famous Grand Cru vineyards. The 2012 vintage combines ripe red fruit with impressive elegance, mineral precision, and exceptional balance. The wine opens with aromas of wild cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries, violets, rose petals, spices, forest floor, and subtle oak notes. On the palate, it is both powerful and refined, with silky-smooth tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
In 2012, Burgundy experienced a challenging growing season with unpredictable weather and a limited harvest. As a result, selecting healthy Pinot Noir grapes was particularly important. Especially with a Grand Cru like Grands Échezeaux, the origin of the grapes makes all the difference.
Serve at 15–16°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with veal, duck, pigeon, game birds, mushrooms, truffle dishes, and refined French cuisine.
The story of Domaine d’Eugénie began in 2006, when François Pinault acquired the former Domaine René Engel in Vosne-Romanée. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for a historic Burgundian wine estate. The Grands Échezeaux vineyard is located in the Côte de Nuits, adjacent to the famous Échezeaux, but constitutes a separate Grand Cru appellation. The wine is made from Pinot Noir. The 2012 vintage demonstrates how the same exceptional terroir can express itself under different weather conditions. The original wooden case contains six bottles from the same vintage.
