Aroma & taste
The nose opens with aromas of wild cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, violets, rose petals, forest floor, delicate spices, and subtle woody notes. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and refined, with velvety-soft tannins, lively freshness, and an impressive mineral finish.
The Story of the 2016 Vintage
After a difficult spring marked by frost in parts of Burgundy, the summer of 2016 brought better conditions. Yields varied greatly from plot to plot. For Pinot Noir, careful selection was essential to preserve the character of Grands Échezeaux.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at 15–16°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with veal, duck, pigeon, game birds, truffle dishes, mushrooms, and refined French cuisine.
The story behind the bottle
The story of Domaine d’Eugénie began in 2006, when François Pinault acquired the former Domaine René Engel in Vosne-Romanée. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for a historic Burgundian wine estate. The Grands Échezeaux vineyard is located in the Côte de Nuits, adjacent to the famous Échezeaux, but constitutes a separate Grand Cru appellation. The wine is made from Pinot Noir. The 2016 vintage demonstrates how the same exceptional terroir can express itself under different weather conditions. The original wooden case contains six bottles from the same vintage.
