The 2017 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is among Burgundy’s most prestigious Premier Cru wines. Clos Saint-Jacques is considered by many connoisseurs to be a vineyard of Grand Cru quality. Louis Jadot brings this exceptional expression of terroir to life with a wine that perfectly combines power, elegance, and refinement.
The 2017 vintage produced healthy grapes with an excellent balance between ripe fruit and fresh acidity. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, which added extra complexity without overpowering the character of the Pinot Noir. The result is a refined Burgundy with impressive aging potential.
The wine opens with aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, raspberries, violets, rose petals, spices, forest floor, and subtle oak notes. On the palate, it is silky smooth with refined tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
Serve at 15–16°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with veal, duck, pheasant, quail, mushrooms, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses.
The 2017 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has an aging potential of twenty to thirty-five years.
