The 2017 Gaja Barbaresco DOCG OWC6 (6 × 0.75L) is one of the most iconic Italian wines in the world. Gaja put Barbaresco on the international map and has been considered the absolute benchmark for Nebbiolo from Piedmont for decades. The original wooden case containing six bottles enhances its authenticity and makes this edition particularly attractive to collectors and investors.
The 2017 vintage combines ripe fruit with elegance and structure. The carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes produce a wine with impressive aromatic complexity, refined tannins, and exceptional aging potential. Like all great Gaja wines, this Barbaresco continues to evolve over decades.
The wine opens with aromas of cherries, rose petals, violets, orange peel, tar, truffle, licorice, tobacco, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful yet extremely refined, with silky-smooth tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
An Original Wooden Case (OWC6) provides optimal protection for the bottles during transport and long-term storage. For iconic wines such as Gaja Barbaresco, an original wooden case also increases their collectible value and appeal on the international wine market.
Serve at 17–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with beef, game, veal, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, and aged hard cheeses.
