The 2017 Dominio Romano RDR is an expressive top-tier wine from Ribera del Duero. Dominio Romano is known for its small-scale production and focus on old Tempranillo vines, which produce wines with impressive concentration, finesse, and expression of terroir. The 2017 vintage combines ripe fruit with structure and excellent balance.
The grapes come from carefully selected plots with old vines growing in limestone- and clay-rich soils. After careful aging in French oak barrels, the wine develops great aromatic complexity, velvety-soft tannins, and a long, elegant finish.
The wine opens with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, plums, violets, cedar, vanilla, cocoa, espresso, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful and refined, with ripe tannins, a lively freshness, and a long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, Iberian pork, game, stews, and aged cheeses.
The 2017 Dominio Romano RDR has excellent aging potential of fifteen to twenty years.
