The 2012 Domini de la Cartoixa Clos Galena is one of Priorat’s most renowned wines. The estate practices organic farming and makes the most of the famous llicorella soils, which give the wine its characteristic minerality and depth. The 2012 vintage combines ripe fruit with refinement and impressive balance.
Clos Galena is a blend of Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. This combination results in a powerful yet elegant wine with exceptional aromatic complexity, velvety tannins, and a long, mineral finish. Thanks to its structure and freshness, the wine has excellent aging potential.
The wine opens with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, plums, Mediterranean herbs, graphite, cocoa, vanilla, and subtle balsamic notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins, a lovely freshness, and a long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about one hour in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, game, Iberian pork, stews, and aged cheeses.
The 2012 Domini de la Cartoixa Clos Galena has an aging potential of twenty years or more.
