The 2014 Ornellaia “L’Essenza” is a limited-edition release as part of Tenuta Ornellaia’s prestigious Vendemmia d’Artista project. The wine is identical to the classic 2014 Ornellaia, but is distinguished by an exclusive artist-designed label that reflects the essence of the vintage. This makes this release particularly popular among collectors.
The 2014 vintage required the utmost precision in the vineyard and resulted in an elegant, refined style. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot offers an impressive balance between ripe fruit, freshness, and complexity. Thanks to aging in French oak barriques, the wine develops exceptional depth and great aging potential.
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, black cherries, plums, violets, graphite, cedarwood, dark chocolate, Mediterranean herbs, and delicate spices. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with silky-smooth tannins, lively freshness, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with beef, lamb, game, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
