2004 Salon Cuvée S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut

An exceptional Blanc de Blancs from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger

The 2004 Salon Cuvée S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut is among the most prestigious and sought-after Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. Salon produces only one cuvée, and does so exclusively in selected vintages that the house deems to offer sufficient quality and aging potential. The Champagne is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs.

The 2004 vintage combines the natural freshness and minerality of Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger with the complexity that results from extended aging. After more than twenty years of development, a properly stored bottle is now at a particularly interesting stage. Alongside citrus and white fruit, increasingly complex notes of brioche, nuts, and dried fruit are coming to the fore.

This offering consists of a single 0.75-liter bottle. Given Salon's reputation, its limited availability, and its great aging potential, even a single bottle is particularly appealing to both experienced Champagne enthusiasts and collectors.

Aroma & taste

Complex and refined, with aromas of citrus, candied lemon, white fruit, and floral notes. The extended bottle aging adds notes of brioche, toasted nuts, delicate spices, and dried fruit. On the palate, the Champagne is concentrated and precise, with lively acidity, a pronounced chalky minerality, and an exceptionally long finish.

Serving & foodpairing

Serve at around 10–12°C. Preferably serve in large Champagne or white wine glasses to allow the aromas to fully develop. Excellent with oysters, caviar, lobster, scallops, turbot, and other refined fish and shellfish dishes. This Champagne is also excellent for sipping on its own.

Storage potential

Salon is known for its exceptional aging potential in the bottle. The 2004 vintage has already undergone a long maturation process but, if stored properly in a cellar, can continue to evolve for many more years. For older Champagnes, the condition and storage history of the individual bottle remain, of course, important.

Drinking Window

Now – around 2040+. The exact development depends on storage conditions and personal preference for Champagne that is more or less mature.

Why We Chose This Wine

Salon is one of the most exclusive names in Champagne. The combination of a single grape variety, an exceptional terroir, and a selected vintage makes Salon unique. The 2004 offers both a remarkable drinking experience and collectible value, making it an exceptional bottle in our selection.

The story behind the bottle

Salon was born from the idea of producing Champagne with an uncompromising focus on Chardonnay and the terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The house produces exclusively Blanc de Blancs and does not release a new vintage every harvest year. Only selected vintages are deemed suitable to become Salon. This approach, combined with limited production, has given Salon a special place among the great names of Champagne.
