The 2004 Salon Cuvée S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut is among the most prestigious and sought-after Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. Salon produces only vintage Champagne, and only in years that the house deems exceptional enough. This cuvée is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes grown in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs.
This 1.5-liter magnum is presented in its original wooden case. In this larger size, Champagne generally matures more gradually.
The 2004 vintage combines maturity with the tension and minerality characteristic of Salon. After more than twenty years of aging, this Champagne is in a particularly interesting phase, and well-preserved bottles may still have a long future ahead of them.
A complex and refined Champagne with notes of citrus, candied lemon, white fruit, chalk, and floral nuances. As it continues to age in the bottle, notes of brioche, toasted nuts, delicate spices, and dried fruit emerge. The palate is precise and concentrated, with lively acidity, a pronounced mineral structure, and an exceptionally long finish.
Serve at around 10–12°C in large Champagne or white wine glasses. Excellent with oysters, caviar, lobster, scallops, turbot, fine shellfish, and other gourmet seafood dishes. This Champagne is also excellent on its own.
Salon was born from the idea of producing a single, exceptional Champagne made from a single grape variety, a single terroir, and a single vintage. Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger forms the basis. Furthermore, Salon does not release a vintage every year. Only select vintages are deemed good enough to be released as Salon. This uncompromising approach has made Salon one of the most prestigious and recognizable Blanc de Blancs Champagnes.
