The 2016 Vieux Château Certan ranks among the absolute best Bordeaux wines in the world. The wine is primarily made from Merlot, blended with Cabernet Franc and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Thanks to an exceptional growing season, the 2016 vintage combines impressive concentration with refined freshness and silky-smooth tannins. It ranks among the greatest Vieux Château Certan vintages of the past decades.
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, black cherries, plums, violets, graphite, cedar, truffle, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful yet exceptionally refined, with velvety tannins, lively acidity, and an endless mineral finish.
An Original Wooden Case (OWC6) provides optimal protection for the bottles during transport and long-term storage. For iconic Bordeaux wines such as Vieux Château Certan, an original wooden case also enhances their authenticity, collectible value, and appeal on the international wine market.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two to three hours in advance. Delicious with beef, lamb, game, pigeon, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
