The 2016 Torres Grans Muralles Magnum (1.5L) is one of Spain’s most prestigious wines. The vineyards are located at the foot of the historic walls of the Poblet Monastery in Conca de Barberà. Familia Torres reintroduced rare native grape varieties here, such as Querol and Garró, giving Grans Muralles its unique character. The Magnum bottle also ensures a slower and more refined aging process.
The outstanding 2016 vintage produced perfectly ripe grapes with an exceptional balance between power and finesse. The wine ages in French oak barrels and develops impressive aromatic complexity, refined tannins, and an exceptionally long finish.
The wine opens with aromas of black cherries, cassis, plums, Mediterranean herbs, violets, graphite, cocoa, balsamic vinegar, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful and elegant, with velvety tannins, lively freshness, and a long, mineral finish.
A Magnum (1.5L) ages more slowly than a standard bottle, allowing the wine to retain its freshness and complexity for longer. In addition, a Magnum is particularly popular among collectors and ideal for festive occasions.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, game, stews, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2016 Torres Grans Muralles Magnum has an aging potential of twenty-five to thirty-five years.
