The 2016 Torres Reserva Real is one of Spain’s most prestigious red wines. This exclusive cuvée is produced only in exceptional vintages and pays tribute to the Spanish royal family’s visit to Familia Torres. The wine combines international grape varieties with the unique terroir of Penedès and has long been considered one of the estate’s absolute finest wines.
The exceptional 2016 vintage produced perfectly ripe grapes with an impressive balance of power, freshness, and elegance. After a long aging period in French oak barrels, the wine develops exceptional aromatic complexity, refined tannins, and impressive aging potential.
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, black cherries, plums, cedar, graphite, dark chocolate, tobacco, Mediterranean herbs, and delicate spices. On the palate, it is powerful and elegant, with velvety-soft tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, game, Iberian pork, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2016 Torres Reserva Real has an aging potential of twenty-five to thirty-five years.
