The 2016 Fonseca Vintage Port is among the absolute best of modern Douro. The 2016 vintage produced perfectly balanced vintage ports with intense fruit expression, refined structure and exceptional storage potential. Here, Fonseca combines its signature rich style with remarkable elegance.
In the glass, this port shows a deep, almost opaque ruby color. The nose is intense and refined with aromas of blackcurrants, plums, violets, dark chocolate and subtle spices. In the mouth rich and powerful, with impressive concentration, velvety tannins and an exceptionally long finish.
Serve at 16-18°C. Ideal with chocolate desserts, blue cheese or as an exclusive finale to a dinner party.
2016 is considered an exceptionally elegant vintage in the Douro. Fonseca created a wine with tremendous precision, depth and storage potential that will continue to develop beautifully in the decades to come.
