De 2016 Château Saint-Pierre behoort tot de absolute top van Saint-Julien. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Thanks to ideal weather conditions, the grapes reached perfect ripeness while retaining their freshness and elegance. The result is a Saint-Julien with a refined structure, deep complexity, and an exceptionally long finish.
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, black currants, plums, violets, graphite, cedarwood, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful and harmonious, with ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with entrecôte, lamb, roe deer, venison, duck, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
