2012 Gratavinum GV5 Magnum (1.5L) from Priorat
A powerful Priorat in Magnum format with exceptional aging potential
The 2012 Gratavinum GV5 Magnum (1.5L) is an impressive expression of Priorat. Gratavinum works with old vines on the famous llicorella soils, which impart distinct minerality and great concentration. The Magnum format allows the wine to age more slowly, resulting in added finesse and complexity.
The outstanding 2012 vintage produced perfectly ripe grapes with great depth and balance. The blend of Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah produces a wine with rich dark fruit, refined tannins, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish. Thanks to its slow aging in Magnum bottles, this wine will continue to improve for years to come.
Aroma & taste
The wine opens with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, plums, Mediterranean herbs, graphite, cocoa, espresso, balsamic vinegar, and subtle wood notes. On the palate, it is rich and powerful with velvety tannins, lively freshness, and a long, elegant finish.
Why Magnum?
A 1.5-liter Magnum ages more slowly than a standard bottle. As a result, the wine retains its freshness longer and develops additional complexity. For a quality wine from Priorat, this is the ideal size for long-term cellar aging.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine one to two hours in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, game, Iberian pork, stews, and aged hard cheeses.
Storage potential
The 2012 Gratavinum GV5 Magnum has an aging potential of more than thirty years.
