The 1994 Martinez Vintage Port is among the great classic vintage ports of the Douro. The year 1994 is considered a historic peak year for vintage port and Martinez created a wine with intense fruit expression, structure and exceptional ageing potential.
In the glass, this port shows a deep ruby color with slight evolution. The nose is intense and complex with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, fig, cocoa, coffee and subtle spices. In the mouth rich and powerful, with soft tannins, lively acids and an exceptionally long finish.
Serve at 16-18°C. Ideal with blue-veined cheeses, chocolate desserts or as an exclusive finale to a dinner party.
1994 is considered one of the greatest vintage years of recent decades in the Douro. Martinez produced a powerful yet elegant vintage port that is beautifully developed today but has further room to mature.
