The 2017 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT ranks among the very best in the Italian wine world. Hailing from the legendary Tenuta Tignanello estate, this iconic Super Tuscan combines the elegance of Sangiovese with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Since its first release in 1971, Tignanello has been considered one of the most influential wines ever produced in Italy and serves as the benchmark for the Super Tuscan category.
Despite the warm and dry conditions of 2017, Marchesi Antinori managed to produce a wine with impressive balance and refinement. Through a careful selection of the best grapes, a Tignanello emerged with ripe fruit, lively freshness, and silky-smooth tannins. The wine combines concentration with elegance and has excellent aging potential.
The nose opens with aromas of black cherries, cassis, plums, violets, tobacco, graphite, cedar, cocoa, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is rich and harmonious, with refined tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral finish in which fruit, wood, and terroir blend perfectly.
Serve at 17–18°C and decant the wine one to two hours in advance. Perfect with Florentine bistecca, grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2017 Tignanello has excellent aging potential and will continue to develop for twenty years or more.
