The 2021 M. Chapoutier Ermitage L’Ermite OWC6 (6 × 0.75L) is among the greatest Syrah wines in the world. L’Ermite is the undisputed flagship of Maison M. The wine opens with aromas of black currants, blackberries, violets, black olives, pepper, graphite, smoked meat, cocoa, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful and refined, with silky-smooth tannins, pronounced minerality, and an endless finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with beef, lamb, game, venison, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
