2020 Fournier Père & Fils Les Belles Vignes Sancerre
An elegant Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire
The 2020 Fournier Père & Fils Les Belles Vignes is a classic white Sancerre from the Loire Valley. Made from Sauvignon Blanc, this wine combines the grape’s fresh character with the minerality and elegance for which Sancerre is known.
The 2020 vintage has now been aging in the bottle for several years. This gives the fresh citrus fruit more depth and brings out softer, more complex aromas. An interesting choice for those who prefer to drink Sancerre when it has developed a bit more.
Aroma & taste
Fresh aromas of citrus, green apple, and white fruit with floral and mineral notes. The palate is dry and refined, with crisp acidity, lovely minerality, and a clean finish.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at around 9–11°C. Excellent with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, sushi, salads, and goat cheese. Also wonderful as a refined aperitif.
Storage potential
The wine has now reached a nice stage of development. If stored properly, it can be kept for a few more years, but from now on, I would recommend selling it primarily for immediate consumption rather than for further long-term cellaring.
Drinking Window
Now – 2028.
Why We Chose This Wine
Les Belles Vignes combines the distinctive freshness of Sauvignon Blanc with the mineral character of Sancerre. The 2020 vintage also offers a bit more depth and complexity compared to a very young Sancerre.
The story behind the bottle
Fournier Père & Fils is a family-run winery in the Loire region with a strong focus on Sauvignon Blanc. Les Belles Vignes is an approachable expression of Sancerre in which freshness, minerality, and the appellation’s character take center stage.
