The 2020 Château Saint-Pierre ranks among the very best of Saint-Julien. As a Quatrième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, this historic château is known for its combination of power, elegance, and refinement. The exceptional 2020 vintage produced a wine with impressive concentration, silky-smooth tannins, and exceptional aromatic precision.
The blend consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Thanks to ideal weather conditions, the grapes reached perfect ripeness while retaining their freshness and structure. The result is a classic Saint-Julien with deep complexity, great elegance, and an exceptionally long finish.
On the nose, aromas of cassis, black currants, plums, violets, graphite, cedarwood, tobacco, dark chocolate, and delicate spices come together beautifully. The palate is rich and harmonious, with ripe tannins, a lively freshness, and a long, mineral finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with entrecôte, lamb, roe deer, venison, duck, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2020 Château Saint-Pierre has exceptional aging potential of more than thirty-five years and will continue to develop for decades to come.
