The 2018 Château Pichon Comtesse Magnum (1.5L) ranks among the very best of Pauillac. Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande enjoys an exceptional reputation worldwide thanks to its elegant style, refinement, and impressive aging potential. The Magnum size allows for a slower and more harmonious maturation, enabling the wine to develop even greater complexity than it would in a standard bottle.
The 2018 vintage is considered one of the greatest Bordeaux vintages of recent decades. Thanks to ideal weather conditions, the result is a wine with impressive concentration, silky-smooth tannins, and exceptional aromatic richness. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot produces a Pauillac in which power, elegance, and finesse come together perfectly.
The nose opens with aromas of cassis, black currants, plums, graphite, cedarwood, violets, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety smooth with perfectly integrated tannins, lively freshness, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
A 1.5-liter Magnum ages more slowly than a standard bottle, allowing the wine to retain its freshness longer and develop greater complexity. That is why this size is considered worldwide to be the ideal size for long-term cellar aging.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with entrecôte, lamb, roe deer, venison, duck, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
