The 2016 Château Pichon Comtesse Magnum (1.5L) ranks among the very best of Pauillac. Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious Deuxième Grands Crus Classés and is known worldwide for its exceptional elegance, refined structure, and impressive aging potential. The 1.5-liter magnum bottle provides ideal conditions for slow and harmonious aging.
The legendary 2016 vintage is considered one of the finest Bordeaux vintages of recent decades. Thanks to perfect ripening conditions, a wine with impressive concentration, aromatic precision, and exceptional balance was produced. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot results in a classic Pauillac in which power, freshness, and finesse come together perfectly.
The nose opens with aromas of cassis, black currants, plums, violets, graphite, cedarwood, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, with velvety tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
A 1.5-liter Magnum ages more slowly than a standard bottle, allowing the wine to retain its freshness longer and develop additional complexity. This size is considered ideal worldwide for long-term cellar aging and is particularly popular among collectors.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine at least two hours in advance. Delicious with entrecôte, lamb, roe deer, venison, duck, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
De gravin Virginie de Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, gaf dit Pauillacdomein zijn bekende naam. Het château kreeg in 1855 de rang van Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. Sinds 2007 is het eigendom van de familie Rouzaud, ook bekend van Champagne Louis Roederer. De jaargang 2016 geldt als een van de sterke recente Bordeauxjaren. Deze magnum van 1,5 liter is een bijzonder formaat om de ontwikkeling van een klassieke Pauillac rustig te volgen.
