The 2017 Château Pichon Comtesse Magnum (1.5L) ranks among the very best of Pauillac. Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is one of the most prestigious Deuxième Grands Crus Classés from the 1855 classification and is known worldwide for its exceptional elegance, refinement, and impressive aging potential. Thanks to the Magnum format, the wine develops even more slowly and harmoniously than in a standard bottle.
The 2017 vintage produced a classic Bordeaux with great precision, freshness, and elegance. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot results in a wine with refined tannins, beautiful aromatic complexity, and impressive length. The Magnum bottle makes this version particularly popular among collectors and connoisseurs of great Bordeaux wines.
The nose opens with aromas of cassis, black currants, graphite, violets, cedar, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. The palate is rich and refined, with silky-smooth tannins, lively freshness, and a long, mineral finish.
A 1.5-liter Magnum ages more slowly than a standard bottle, allowing the wine to retain its freshness longer and develop additional complexity. This size is considered worldwide to be the ideal size for long-term cellar aging.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Delicious with entrecôte, lamb, roe deer, venison, duck, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2017 Château Pichon Comtesse Magnum has excellent aging potential of more than thirty-five years and will continue to develop for many years to come.
