The 2016 Château La Louvière Rouge is one of the most famous wines from Pessac-Léognan. The historic château has been owned by Vignobles André Lurton since 1965 and is known for its elegant, terroir-driven Bordeaux wines. The exceptional 2016 vintage produced a wine with a perfect balance of ripe fruit, refined structure, and freshness.
The wine is primarily a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. After aging for about twelve months in French oak barrels, it develops a harmonious blend of ripe black fruit, subtle oak notes, and mineral finesse. The 2016 vintage is impressive when young and also suitable for long-term cellaring.
Aroma & taste
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, black cherries, plums, graphite, cedar, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is powerful and elegant, with ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, mineral finish.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about one to two hours in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, duck, game, mushrooms, and aged hard cheeses.
