The 2014 Quinta do Noval Cedro do Noval is a refined red wine from the Douro Valley, produced by the world-famous Quinta do Noval. In contrast to the estate’s iconic Ports, Cedro do Noval demonstrates that the estate also excels at dry red wines. The wine combines traditional Portuguese grape varieties with Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in an elegant and international style.
The 2014 vintage produced a wine with ripe dark fruit, fresh acidity, and a lovely balance. Aging in French oak barrels adds extra complexity without overpowering the fruit. The result is a harmonious Douro wine that is already ready to drink but also has the potential to age further.
The wine opens with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, cassis, violets, cedar, cocoa, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and elegant, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, refined finish.
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about thirty to sixty minutes in advance. Delicious with grilled beef, lamb, game, stews, and aged cheeses.
