Rainera Pérez Marín 'La Guita' Manzanilla
La Guita is a Manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, on the Atlantic coast of Andalusia. Unlike sweet sherry, Manzanilla is distinctly dry. The wine ages under a natural layer of flor yeast, which limits contact with oxygen and helps it develop its own aromatic character.
A centuries-old coastal tradition
Manzanilla may only come from Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The coastal climate helps maintain the flor layer in the aging barrels, allowing the wine to develop its dry, refined character. Within this tradition, La Guita is known as a distinctive Manzanilla, meant to be enjoyed fresh and young.
Tasting Experience
In the glass, it’s all about freshness, light nutty notes, and a distinctive briny character. The taste is dry and refined, with a subtle yeasty nuance characteristic of flor aging. It is precisely this interplay that makes Manzanilla so different from most white wines or other fortified wines.
Serving
Serve La Guita well-chilled, for example with olives, almonds, tapas, or seafood. Its dry, slightly briny style pairs surprisingly well with dishes that are difficult to pair with other wines. Once opened, drink the bottle relatively quickly and store it in a cool place to preserve its fresh aromas.
