The 2021 Girard Old Vine Zinfandel is a full-bodied red wine from Napa Valley. Girard Winery is known for its carefully selected vineyards and produces wines characterized by ripe fruit, elegance, and balance. This cuvée is made from grapes grown on old Zinfandel vines, which lend it extra concentration and depth.
The warm conditions of the 2021 vintage produced perfectly ripe grapes with outstanding aromatic intensity. The wine combines juicy dark fruit with spicy notes, soft tannins, and a long, full finish. Thanks to its structure and freshness, it is appealing when young and also suitable for aging for several more years.
The wine opens with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, plums, black pepper, vanilla, cocoa, licorice, and subtle toasty notes. On the palate, it is rich and velvety smooth with ripe tannins, a lovely balance, and a long, spicy finish.
Serve at 16–18°C. Delicious with grilled beef, barbecue dishes, spare ribs, lamb, hamburgers, smoked meats, and aged cheeses.
The 2021 Girard Old Vine Zinfandel has an aging potential of about ten to fifteen years.
