The 2017 Marchesi Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore DOC ranks among the very best in the world of Tuscan wine. Hailing from the prestigious Tenuta Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri, this iconic Super Tuscan blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot into a wine of impressive concentration, elegance, and complexity. Despite the hot and dry conditions of 2017, Marchesi Antinori managed to produce an exceptionally well-balanced wine. Thanks to a rigorous selection of the best grapes, the result is a Bolgheri Superiore with ripe black fruit, refined tannins, and a wonderful freshness. The wine combines power with elegance and has impressive aging potential.
The nose opens with aromas of cassis, black cherries, plums, graphite, cedarwood, tobacco, dark chocolate, balsamic vinegar, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is rich, powerful, and perfectly balanced, with velvety tannins, lively acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish.
Serve at 17–18°C and decant the wine at least two hours in advance. Perfect with Florentine bistecca, grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
