The 2020 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello IGT ranks among the very best in the Italian wine world. Hailing from the legendary Tenuta Tignanello estate, this iconic Super Tuscan combines the elegance of Sangiovese with the power and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Since its introduction in 1971, Tignanello has been considered the benchmark in the Super Tuscan category and ranks among the most prestigious wines Italy has ever produced.
The 2020 vintage is praised for its exceptional balance and refinement. Thanks to a long growing season with ideal ripening conditions, the grapes developed impressive aromatic intensity, ripe tannins, and a lively freshness. The result is a wine that already displays great charm but also has impressive aging potential.
The nose opens with refined aromas of black cherries, cassis, plums, violets, graphite, tobacco, cedar, cocoa, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich and perfectly balanced, with silky-smooth tannins, crisp acidity, and an exceptionally long, mineral finish in which fruit, wood, and terroir come together harmoniously.
Serve at 17–18°C and decant the wine one to two hours in advance. Perfect with Florentine bistecca, grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2020 Tignanello has exceptional aging potential and will continue to develop for twenty-five years or more.
