This original wooden box contains three magnums of Château Lafite Rothschild 2015. The estate is classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac and has a reputation that dates back centuries. The combination of a highly regarded vintage and the larger bottle size makes this presentation truly special.
In 1855, Château Lafite Rothschild was one of the four original Premiers Crus of the Médoc. The estate was purchased in 1868 by Baron James de Rothschild. The name Lafite was already well known among lovers of great Bordeaux wines at that time. The year 2015 saw a warm summer in Bordeaux, followed by weather conditions that allowed for balanced ripening at many estates. Pauillac is known for Cabernet Sauvignon and its gravelly soils. Lafite’s wine typically combines precision with a pronounced structure. This original wooden case contains three 1.5-liter bottles. A magnum has a different ratio of wine to oxygen under the cork than a standard bottle, which, when stored properly, can support a more gradual development. The case also serves as a recognizable presentation for collectors. With further aging, the wine may develop more complex aromas of cedar, tobacco, and delicate spices.
Expect blackcurrant, black cherries, cedar, graphite, and subtle spices. The flavor is layered and well-structured, with tannins that support the fruit and a long finish.
Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. Allow the wine time to open up. Pair with refined beef, lamb, or game.
