2016 Château Rouget Magnum (1.5L) from Pomerol
An elegant Pomerol in magnum format from a legendary Bordeaux vintage
The 2016 Château Rouget Magnum (1.5L) comes from one of the oldest wine estates in Pomerol. Château Rouget is known for its rich, velvety style, characterized by ripe Merlot fruit and refined elegance. Thanks to the Magnum format, the wine develops even more slowly and harmoniously, allowing it to build even greater complexity and finesse during bottle aging.
The 2016 vintage is among the greatest Bordeaux vintages of the past decades. Ideal weather conditions resulted in perfectly ripe grapes with impressive concentration and excellent freshness. The blend of primarily Merlot and Cabernet Franc results in a wine with deep fruit aromas, silky-smooth tannins, and an exceptionally long finish.
Aroma & taste
The nose is dominated by aromas of black cherries, plums, cassis, violets, truffle, cedarwood, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety smooth with perfectly integrated tannins, a beautiful balance, and a long, elegant finish.
Why Magnum?
A 1.5-liter Magnum ages more slowly than a standard bottle. As a result, the wine retains its freshness longer and develops greater complexity. This makes the Magnum size particularly well-suited for long-term cellar aging.
Serving & foodpairing
Serve at 16–18°C and decant the wine about two hours in advance. Perfect with entrecôte, lamb, veal, duck, game, mushrooms, and aged cheeses.
Storage potential
The 2016 Château Rouget Magnum has excellent aging potential of more than twenty-five years and will continue to develop for many years to come.
