Médoc wines

The Médoc is one of the most famous wine regions in Bordeaux and is known worldwide for its powerful and structured red wines. Located on the left bank of the Gironde River, this region is home to some of the most prestigious appellations in the world.

The core of classic Bordeaux wines

Médoc wines are made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, often supplemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and give the wines their typical structure and depth.

Within the Médoc are famous appellations such as Margaux, Pauillac and Saint-Julien, each with its own character.

Flavor profile of Médoc

Médoc wines are known for their powerful and complex style. Typical aromas are:

  • cassis and blackcurrants
  • cedar wood and tobacco
  • herbs and graphite
  • firm tannins and long finish

These wines often have great storage potential and develop beautifully over the years.
