Penedès is a prestigious wine region in Catalonia, Spain, known worldwide for its excellent quality wines. This region produces both white and red wines, but is especially famous for its production of Cava, the famous Spanish sparkling wine. The region has a varied climate, which makes for a wide range of grape varieties, including the local Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada for Cava, and Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines. Penedès wines offer fresh, fruity flavors and good acidity, ideal for pairing with seafood, paella, grilled meats and tapas.
